Kam Li Cheng’s BA final project animation ‘The Highwayman’ was submitted to the internationally renowned Bradford Animation Festival (largest in the UK). Although entered for the student category, it was considered so good that it was selected for screening amongst the elite professional work in Panorama. It was then shortlisted for a Royal Television Society Award. |

Olivier Laruelle was employed by ‘Agency Republic’ an innovative and highly respected Design agency in London. His website for the famous G8 Summit in Edinburgh in 2005 won acclaim at the Media Awards UK 2006. |

Matthew Chaloner and Darren Jackson represented the UK in the International Ice Carving Festival in Latvia 2006 (The World Championships of Ice Sculpting). Darren won First Prize. They are amongst several 3D Design graduates who work as Ice Sculptors for a London based company. One of them Ben Edson won the Metropolis International award for Best Product Modelmaking, while Matthew Chaloner has title credits for the James Bond film ‘Die Another Day’, having sculpted the ‘special effects’ ice bed, of Halle Berry fame. |

Ryan Davies works as motion-graphics designer for top Newcastle based Games design company Eutechnyx. They produce some of the best selling Playstation games on the market including Grand Theft Auto. |

Graham Mitchell designed and produced an interactive learning tool for nursery school children called ‘Burnie the Rocket’ which was Overall Winner of the Europrix Student Prize (Europe’s Best in Multimedia) as well as the John Lansdowne Award. It was also selected to be ‘Best of Multimedia Category’ in the Student design Yearbook and it was the only entry from the whole of the UK to be selected for Milia Top Talent Awards in Cannes, world class Multimedia conference. Volkswagen later asked to buy the character rights for an advertising campaign. |

Daniel Rogers who graduated with MA Distinction in Illustration Design was helped to set up his company ‘Ican Design’ by CreativitiWorks - an incubator organisation supported by the University which helps young creatives set up their own businesses. Ican Design has now been running since 2004 and with a growing client base, has moved into new offices. |

The Student Design Yearbook is a glossy prestigious book printed annually featuring the top design talent in the UK. For two years running, the Sunderland Design degrees won ‘Best of Multimedia’ and had the work of over ten students featured. |

Graeme Metcalf won a student competition to rebrand Kingsmeadow Comprehensive School in Gateshead. He worked with staff, pupils, the board of governors and the architects, to
enable him to produce a branding solution that could be taken right throughout the school, from printed material to uniforms, livery, and the building itself.

He won seven Crowbars and will appear in next years annual. Immediately after graduating, he was offered 3 different jobs by top Ad agencies around the world. He accepted the role of copywriter with Young & Rubicam in Singapore. |

Dani Brown and Paul Mann, a creative partnership were highly commended in the YCN (Young Creative Network) Annual Awards, with some adverts for the media giant SKY. A spokesperson from SKY said their work was exceptional and perfect for the target audience. |

Gillian Biddle’s film "Beirut-Nantes" was accepted to screen at the
London Short Film Festival 2009. The film has also been selected from those being screened at the festival for the '4th Vauxhall Auteur Theory Award'. The organisers say "they will showcase the new generation of D.I.Y. auteurs who have produced inspired, refreshing work with personal flair and nerve."

Laura Mcdonald won the Aardman Competition to design and
sculpt a character that would fit in the Wallace and Gromit series. Her prize was her model photographed and signed by Nick Park and presented as a certificate of achievement.
